What exactly is the European Union?
The European Union is composed of 28 countries located on the continent. The Union is established to create friendly relations between the members. This means that the European Union virtually removes controls on the borders between the countries. All the trades and developments that each member experiences are communicated and instructed to the other governments.
One of the best benefits of being part of the European Union is the openness of each country in terms of the products manufactured and distributed. It is like getting voucher codes when purchasing items from a nearby member. Tariffs are removed so that the countries can maximize earnings and take part in buying items from other member countries at the lowest amount possible.
What is the European Constitution?
A Treaty was made in 2004 to create a Constitution as a consolidated charter for the European Union. For the constitution to be fully accepted by the European Union, it must be ratified by all member countries. Unfortunately, the constitution was disallowed and the members pushed the amendment of the existing treaties.
Have you ever been gone to an Amsterdam bike rental and toured the streets of this majestic city? How about walking along the charming parks of Brussels? Did you ever take a picture of the Eiffel Tower in France?
What are the member countries of the European Union?
The countries in the European Union are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and United Kingdom. You have to take note that the United Kingdom has opted out of the European Union. They will withdraw on March 2019.
These are all beautiful experiences that we have today thanks to the agreements that the members of the European Union have with each other’s governments. A lot of treaties have been made to continually improve the relationships of the countries in terms of policies, laws, and mutual agreements.
Our countries have always worked and communicated with each other to make international relations great for all citizens of the countries included in the European Union. Because of the EU and the establishment of numerous laws governing all countries involved, we can better enjoy beautiful tourist spots like Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum or the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
Why should we push for a European Constitution instead of just relying on the current EU status?
We have been a living witness to the experience that we had with the United Kingdom and the opting out of the country from the European Union. The country does not recognize the importance of being part of the EU. At first, it did affect the trades and tariffs that they had with other countries. But ultimately, their status is becoming more and more stable with every year that passes.
The European Constitution can create a lasting harmony and democracy among the members of the EU. We can rely on this charter to ensure policies and laws that are approved by all the leaders of the countries. Let us create an established foundation and be a supporter of the European Constitution.
